At Shaftesbury we are happy to introduce our new Children’s Service, Bradbury House. We are recruiting for a dedicated Residential Support Worker to help shape a supportive, inclusive environment where children can truly thrive.
Please note this role does not qualify for sponsorship, as the hours available do not meet the guidelines set by the Home Office.

Bradbury House is a purpose built children’s home which provides overnight short breaks for children with disabilities.
The home provides a safe, nurturing, caring and fun home away from home for children and young people aged 0-17 years old.
Our caring staff team provide high quality support to children who have a range of disabilities including; learning, physical, and sensory disabilities, autism, developmental conditions, and health conditions. The children we care for need support with; personal care, mobility, medication, communication, getting out and about and managing behaviour.
Bradbury House provides invaluable support to children, young people and their families. We are a warm, fun and friendly home and we aim to make a real, positive difference to the local community, the children and young people we support and their families.
Bradbury House operates 5 nights per week, Wednesday to Sunday, all year round. Up to 5 children can stay per night.
Usual staffing levels are 6 day time staff, 1 sleep in staff and 2 waking night staff.
During the day there is usually an additional senior member of staff on duty.
During term time shift patterns include:
- Day shifts: 7am – 11AM, 12pm – 10pm and 2pm – 10pm Wed, Thursday and Friday
- Sleep over: 10pm – 7am
- Waking Nights: 9:30pm – 7:30am
During weekends and school holidays shift patterns include:
- Day shifts: 7am – 2.30pm, and 2pm – 10pm
- Sleep over: 10pm – 7am
- Waking Nights: 9:30pm – 7:30am
The Role
As a Residential Support Worker, you’ll play a vital role in the day-to-day running of the service, ensuring high-quality care and support for the people we support.
Key responsibilities include:
- To provide a high standard of da to day care to the children and young people we support
- To create a safe, nurturing and supportive environment for children and young people to grow and develop, ensuring their wellbeing through personalised care, guidance and advocacy
- To provide short break support to children and young people with disabilities, consistent with regulatory requirements and agreed policies and procedures
- To work inline with Shaftesbury’s core values
What We’re Looking For
- Or Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent
- Passion for delivering outstanding, child-centred care
- Commitment to our values and making a difference
- Clear English writing skills
- Good communication skills
- Basic computer and technology skills
- Experience of working in a care setting or of working with children with disabilities
